Jesus, my Redeemer and my hope: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3:10) “You have the words of everlasting life.” (John 6:68)
You are the One Who speaks to my heart with the language of love, with the unknown language of the Cross that contains so much joy. Who will be able to separate me from You? “Your delight is to be with the children of men.” (Proverbs 8:31)
Because of my weakness and misery, humiliation is painful, obedience is heavy, recollection is sad, temptation is intolerable, suffering is disturbing, and any cross is tiresome. I am afraid to forego my desires. Any kind of denial frightens me, but O my Jesus, I will be able to do all in union with You. Take away my coldness and give me the gift of prayer to listen to Your voice that encourages me to give of myself for love of You.
Speak to me always, Jesus, Infinite Goodness, and tell me, as You told the Samaritan woman, everything that I have done in order to move my heart to repentance!
Give me the water of Your Blood to cleanse my heart. Lord, give me this water!
Mary, Mother of the eternal Word, may I know how to listen in silence to the sweet voice of your Jesus. Amen.
